Prayer for Success

It has been said that one of the worst things that can happen to you is that you are successful before you are ready to be successful. The music business is littered with individuals whose lives have been wrecked (or, worse still, ended prematurely) because they found success through remarkable talent, but their character was unable to cope with the effects of the stardom. So as we pray that we would be successful, we ask that our character, and the talents that God has instilled in us, both mature and grow together so that we are able to fully enjoy success when it arrives, and not be crushed by it. Success as the bible defines it is not necessarily fame or riches. Rather, it is when we are fully alive, when we are reaching and acheiving the potential that God has created us for. Lower down on this page is a general prayer for success, as well as prayers for success in exams and business, and some bible verses from the old and new testaments on success.

Enlarge my Vision
Dear Lord Jesus I know that somewhere in the Bible it says that we are to enlarge our tents and stretch forth the curtains of our dwelling – to lengthen the cords and to strengthen the stakes. Father I ask that You would lead me to enlarge the tent of my life and give me the vision to spread forth my wings and fly in the direction that You would have me go.

Help me to grow in grace and wisdom as I step out into an unknown future. Be with me Lord I pray and give me success in all I do – for I want to be pleasing in Your sight. May I be used of You to reach out in whatever direction I go – not for my own credit but to Your praise and glory, I pray,

For Success In my Career
Loving Lord, I know that all things come from You and You hold all things together – not only in the vastness of the universe, but in my own simple life too. Help me I pray to plan my future career carefully and wisely, and may I follow the path in my chosen career that honours you.

Watch over all my plans and all that I say and do in my dealings with others. Show me how to give of my best and not to shirk hard work but gladly fulfil all the duties and responsibilities of life in a gracious and discerning way.

Govern my actions, guard my tongue, bless my efforts, guide my decisions and help me to produce the best that be so that in my life and career I may honour Your name.

Loving heavenly Father, I come to you today because I want to seek Your will for my life – rather than following my own direction in life as I know that in my heart I can stray from Your best path.

Lord I want to be successful in what I turn my hand to because I want to do everything as unto YOU, and so today I come to lay the desires of my heart before You and to ask that in Your grace You will forward the plans I have for my life, in a way that is best pleasing to You.

Lead me Lord in the way of Your choosing - as I lay before You the hopes and dreams of my heart, which I would dearly love to fulfil –but I surrender them all to YOU, praying that you will guide me in the path that is best suited to carry out Your best work in me,

Prayer Regarding Success
Dear Lord I know that my ways are not Your ways and Your perspective on my life is different from my own.. and Lord at times I long to be more successful in all that I do and all that I try to achieve.. not only in my personal life but also in every areas of life – my home-life, my work life.. my relationships, my recreational times and even my religious activities.

But Lord the more I read through the Scriptures the more I come to understand that so much of what I yearn for in life.. such as getting on and being successful in work and play, is not necessarily the best thing for me to desire – knowing that this could cause me to wander far from You.. to leave my first-love and to become increasingly dependent on myself and less and less dependent upon You.

Help me Lord to get the right balance between wanting to be successful in all I do, so that my life glorifies my Father in heaven.. which truly is the desires of my heart and becoming successful in the wrong way and for the wrong reasons… for my own honour and glory…

May I become increasingly dependent on You so that whether I have much or a little, I may live my life successfully in Your eyes.. Help me to set my heart on Your desires, Your will - Your kingdom. Help me to yearn more and more to be successful in my Christian work and my spiritual growth, rather than in seeking the empty success of the world and the empty prosperity that is from the world – even if it means having to diminish in my eyes and in the esteem of others – May I see You first and Your righteousness Lord and not hanker after the things of this world - to Your praise and glory in Jesus name I pray.

Prayer For Right Perspective On Wealth
Heavenly Father, I know that Your ways and understanding are so far removed from my own that I come before You now to ask that You would teach me Your ways so that I may align my will to Your will and my prayers to the desires of Your heart. Lord, that I may seek Your ways, think Your thoughts that You would have me think and live the life that You would have me to live.

Lord, as I pass through life everything that I see around me of the way the world operates and means that men use to accomplish success is diametrically opposed to all that Your word calls us to be.. and Father I know that I could so easily be swept into this way of thinking and behaving – so teach me Your ways, give me an understanding of all that You would have me do and show me the way that You would have me go.

Lord I know that accumulated wealth, power and fame is so often what the world views as successful.. and there is one part of me that would like all three – but I also have witness a harvest of poverty that this triad of success produces in the lives of those that pursue this pathway – so Lord keep my desires for success to be purified in the fires of Your will for my life and keep me from seeking after a mess of potage when You have prepared a feast for me in the heavenly realm – Lord I ask that my life may glorify Your name, not only in this age but in the ages to come… I ask this in Jesus name

Prayer For Spiritual Fruit and Success
Loving heavenly Father, You have promised that the man that seeks after the Lord will be like a tree that is planted by the rivers of living water – and that they will grow and prosper and have great success. Father I pray that I may prosper in all that I do and that Your hand would lead and guide me in the years that lie ahead. Lord I pray that my life may bring forth fruit – spiritual fruit, thirty, sixty or even a hundredfold fruit.

Lord I pray that I may be grow spiritually – grow in grace and in the knowledge of You – I pray that I may run the race of life to win the heavenly prize of the high calling which You have promised me in Christ Jesus my Lord.. and that I may finish the course that you have set before me.

Lord I want to finish my life, knowing that I have lived as You would have me to live and I ask that You would teach me Your ways and help me to observe all Your ways and decrees – that I may love as Christ loved and walk in spirit and truth – that I may owe no man anything except the debt of love.. for Lord I know that the success I desire may be packaged differently from that of the world, but Lord it is my desire to be successful in Your eyes. Hear my prayer I ask and make me the person You would have me be in Jesus name,

Success at the Cross Roads of Life
Father I have come to a cross-roads in my life and I am not sure which way to go… I know that if I seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness then I will be walking in Your best way for my life.

Help me Lord to be wise in the decisions I make at this junction, where various doors have seemed to close behind me. Lead me Lord in the direction that You would have me go.

Lord I want my life to count and I want to be successful and to have made a difference. Take my life Lord and at this cross-roads and rearrange my direction as best seems for to You. As I push on different doors and I ask that You would close the doors that You would not have me go through and allow the door to remain open to the place that You would have me go.

As I seek Your face, I pray that Your Spirit would prompt the desires of my heart to become the desires that You have for me, I ask this in the holy name of my Saviour, Jesus.

Success at the Job Interview
Dear God I ask You to be with me as I prepare for the most important interview of my life, so far - and I ask You to guide me as I prepare my heart and mind for this important meeting.

Give me I pray that strength and wisdom to answer the questions with integrity and wisdom and give me a good night’s rest so that I may be alert and ready to for this important time of testing. Also I pray that You will give me Your Spirit of peace that I may enter the interview with a mind that is thinking clearly..

I pray for success in this interview but Lord I also ask that whatever the outcome of this interview is I may know that my times are in Your hands and that You have promised to be with me throughout my life - and that nothing that happens to me is by chance – but that in all my ways You are there leading and supporting.

Success for Our Team
Heavenly Father, You have graciously endowed me with a healthy body and the ability to play team games for which I thank You with all my heart. Thank You for the opportunities to join in the fun and activities that come from participating in team sports.

Guard me from any worldly attitudes that others in the team may display and help me I pray to be a good and faithful witness to Your greatness and power in the games that I play.

Give me the ability to play in a fair and considerate manner, Help me to develop the right team spirit and a keenness to do my very best, without nurturing a wrong attitude towards other teams and members who may be better or worse than I.

May You be ever before my eyes so that I do not elevate the sport or my position into an idol – but let me participate in a manner that is always pleasing to You,

Prayer For Success For The Body Of Christ
Heavenly Father, thank You that I am part of the body of Christ and that we are all one in Christ Jesus our Lord. Father, I pray for all my brothers and sisters in Christ, so many of Whom are going through dangers and difficulties; persecution and pain – and Father I pray that you would guard and guide, protect and provide for all that are in the household of faith - and that through us individually and corporately we may glorify You.

Provide for each one today, and I pray as did the apostle John that each one may prosper in body, soul and spirit - and they no matter what difficulties cross our path that we may prosper in the things of God and be worthy witnesses of the goodness and long-suffering of our Lord – towards those that are in Christ Jesus, but having to live in a world of sin, that is sinking further into sin. Help each member of the body to seek after the success that comes only from You, but which lasts forever. Keep us from seeking after the things of this world, which are so soon to be cast into the oven, but to seek first the kingdom of God, knowing that true success and heavenly rewards come only for those that have their hearts on that which is pleasing in Your sight

Keep us from hankering after the empty success that comes from the world, financial and fame, social and relational.. knowing that being out of You is a recipe for disappointment and failure.

Draw us ever closer to You and help us to set our hearts on things above and not on things below, knowing that our citizenship is in heaven and that only through Christ as Saviour can we truly be successful, in Jesus name I pray,

Success in my Business Plan
Loving Lord, all I have is Yours and I want to give You the work of my hand – I want to offer You my business plans and ask that I would employ the integrity and honesty in my business and the values that only comes from You..

May my work of my hands be filled with success and may I be fruitful in all I do – but I also pray that You keep my humble in spirit, knowing that all I have comes from You – and that without You I can do nothing.

Guide me I pray and give me success in my business plans and may all I do honour Your name.

Dear Lord Jesus, You know that I am very anxious about the exams that I am shortly to face and ask that You would calm my troubled thoughts and still these nerves that I have – let me rest in You I pray. I pray that as I enter the exam You will fill my heart with the perfect peace that only comes from you - give me clarity of thought and prompt my mind to recall all that I have studied - and give me the wisdom and the ability to transfer my thoughts onto the exam paper.

Give me grace in the eyes of the examination board and may they be wise and fair in their assessment of my work.

I pray that You would grant me success in my exams, and that in the future You would guide me in the way that is best for me

To Prosper In My New Career
Dear Lord, You have promised to be with me through all the different seasons of my life and have promised never to leave me nor forsake me and have promised to show me the way that I should go. I ask You now to direct my footsteps according to Your perfect will for my life as I am embarking on a new career, which is somewhat daunting.

Lord Jesus I know that Your grace is sufficient because Your strength is made perfect in my weakness – I ask for a portion of that grace now as I step into my chosen career. May Your Spirit of wisdom and understanding teach and train me as I prepare and may Your Spirit of counsel and power direct the decisions that I have to make.

Meet all my needs, according to the riches of Your overflowing grace and uphold me with Your righteous right hand in the days that lie ahead. Grant the desires of my heart to be met and I will ascribe to You all the honour and merit, might dominion and power from this day forward and forevermore
Prayer For True Spiritual Success and Prosperity
Heavenly Father, just as You were the provider for Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, so I praise and thank You that You are my heavenly provider too. Lord I thank You for the many ways that You have provided for me day by day, throughout my entire life - You have not only given me the needs and necessities of this present life but You have provided me with so many wonderful gifts, including the gift of Your only begotten Son – through Whom I have received the gift of Salvation by grace through faith in His finished work at Calvaty.

Lord I pray that You will continue to bless and prosper me and my family in so many ways – not only in the provisions of this world.. in health and strength and all our material needs – but also… and more most importantly, I pray that my soul may prosper - that I may grow in spirituality and in an understanding of Jesus Christ – that I may grow in wisdom and knowledge of You – that I may grow in grace and love and be a channel through whom Your love and grace will flow out to all those with whom I come in contact.

Lord You have provided me with so many blessing that I cannot count them, and although many would not understand nor value the weight of glory they contain - Your gifts to me are treasures that will last through eternity. So give me a right perspective on every area of success and prosperity. Keep me I pray, from becoming squeezed into the world’s mould. May I not view success and prosperity through the eyes of the world – but rather may I look at them through Your perfect and eternal perspective – for Your love, light, peace and joy that You have given me is better than life itself – and I praise Your holy name.. my God and my King, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN
