The Khutbah of Iblees
The Khutbah of Iblees
A summary of the speech shaytaan will make on the day of judgement forsaking all his followers and those he led astray. A reminder that he is an enemy of mankind and should be treated as such.
May Allah protect us from the guiles of the shaytaan - ameen. This is a very important reminder about the deception of the Shaytaan:
Allah the Almighty says, "And Shaytaan will say when the matter has been decided, 'Verily, Allah promised you a promise of truth. And I too promised you, but I betrayed you. I had no authority over you except that I called you, so you responded to me. So blame me not, but blame yourselves. I cannot help you, nor can you help me. I deny your former act in associating with me (Satan) as a partner with Allah (by obeying me in the life of the world). Verily, there is a painful torment for the Dhaalimoon (polytheists and wrong-doers etc)." (14: 22)
This verse is called 'The Khutbah of Iblees'.
Al-Hasan mentioned, as did al-Qurtubi, "Iblees will stand on the Day of Judgement, giving a khutbah on a pulpit of fire in Hell, heard by all of Creation. "
It is also said that he will deliver this khutbah of his after hearing the people of the Fire blaming him and saying it was he who deceived them till they entered the Fire.
So he will say to them: Verily, Allah promised you a promise of truth. i.e. He promised you a promise which was true, that He would reward those who obey Him, and punish those who disobey Him, and He has now fulfilled His promise to you. And I too promised you, but I betrayed you. i.e. I promised you that there would be no resurrection, and no reward, and no punishment. But I lied to you, and I betrayed my promise to you. I had no authority over you i.e. I had no power or rule over you except that I called you, so you responded to me. i.e. I whispered in you and beautified things for you, and you responded to me by your choices. So blame me not, but blame yourselves. i.e. Do not now blame me today, but blame your own selves, for the sin is your sin. I cannot help you, nor can you help me. i.e. Neither of us can help each other escape the Hellfire. I deny your former act in associating with me (Satan) as a partner with Allah i.e. I deny that you associated me as a partner with Allah by obeying me over Him. Verily, there is a painful torment for the Dhaalimoon (polytheists and wrong-doers etc). i.e. The polytheists will have a torment which will pain them.
Thus will Iblees reveal his enmity for the son of Adam, and acknowledge his betrayal of him, to increase him in sadness and regret.
Oh Slaves of Allah! Our Lord the Mighty and Majestic has warned us of this cunning, sly enemy. The verses of His Clear Book are full of verses which warn us from the Shaytaan and from His whispers and how he beautifies that which is forbidden and harmful to us. Despite this warning, how successful is he in deceiving us! And how often do we sway in his path…
Have we sought refuge, O slaves of Allah, with the Quran, and the warning given us by Ar-Rahmaan? It is indeed the words of The Knower of the Unseen, over which there is nothing clearer.
O Allah, we seek refuge in You from going astray, or leading others astray.
O Allah, we seek refuge in You from the evils of our own selves and the whispers of the Shaytaan.
O Allah, save us from the Shaytaan, from his whispers, his deceptions, and his slandering and lies.
