This city was created after Darius, a Peirisan ruler, wanted a ceremonial capital. There are many monumental buildings located on an artificial stone terrace. There is a double staircase which was made for horses to be able to travel from the plains to the top of the terrace. The Gate of Xerces is at the head of the staircase which is safeguarded by carved stone bulls.
